IAIS

The Fraunhofer-Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) is part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft which undertakes applied research of direct utility to private and public enterprise and of wide benefit to society. Its services are solicited by customers and contractual partners in industry, the service sector and public administration. The Fraunhofer-Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems works within two main application fields of agent-based technology: The first field covers modelling of large technical, commercial, military or social systems in terms of agent-based paradigms. This includes inherently parallel models of e.g. companies, IT-systems, traffic, environmental systems or military command and control structures. The resulting conceptual models are used to describe, analyse and optimise these systems. This approach includes a posterior analysis as well as online system control, prediction of future system behaviour and investigation of cause-and-effect dependencies. A special focus is on technical and commercial process models for companies. The second application area focuses on high performance simulation of agent-based micro models.

CRIAI

Consorzio Campano di Ricerca per l`Informatica e l`Automazione Industriale (CRIAI) is a non-profit centre for research and advanced training on ICT promoted by the University of the Studies of Naples Federico II in cooperation with other industrial partners. The main CRIAI activities refer to scientific and technological research, innovation delivery to the enterprises and advanced ICT services. CRIAI research departments are:

  • systems and technologies for communication and multimedia;
  • knowledge management technologies;
  • advanced computer architectures (grid computing);
  • industrial automation systems and robotics.

ENEA

Ente per le Nuove Tecnologie, l'Energia e l'Ambiente (ENEA), the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment is a Public Agency operating in the fields of energy, the environment and new technologies to support competitiveness and sustainable development. It has a staff of around 3,500, is present throughout Italy, operating nine major Research Centres and a number of smaller facilities. In particular, the Unit Computation and Modelling (CAMO) inside ENEA is in charge to carry out ReD activities on the new frontiers of modelling and simulation of complex systems and to develop novel advanced computing architectures, methods and tools.

ICL

Imperial College London (ICL) is a leading educational and research establishment typically ranked in the top five world-wide in engineering, and among the top ten world-wide as a University. The Intelligent Systems and Networks Group (ISN), part of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Imperial College London, specialises in distributed systems and internet technologies, with special experience in the area of modelling, simulation and agent technologies.

TNO

De Nederlandse organisatie voor toegepast natuurwetenschappelijk onderzoek (TNO) - The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research - is a large not-for-profit and independent contract research organisation whose expertise and research make a substantial contribution to the competitiveness of businesses and organisations, to the economy and to the quality of our society as a whole. TNO participates in international developments of the established DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation) and the more recent HLA (High Level Architecture) standards.
